Microsoft Ignite 2023 - Key Takeaways

As in previous years, Microsoft Ignite is a crucial event for sharing the latest technological breakthroughs. Unsurprisingly, AI figured prominently in last week's announcements, notably during Satya Nadella's Keynote.

Here's a summary of yesterday's conference announcements:

- Infrastructure developments : Microsoft presented two new processors, Azure Maia and Azure Cobalt, aimed at optimizing its Azure infrastructures, particularly for AI-related workloads. Deployment of these chips in data centers will begin in early 2024.

- Developments in the use of generative AI models : Microsoft's aim is to offer the most comprehensive selection of GEN AI models. The announcement of "Model-as-a-service" opens the door to the use of Open Source models such as Llama 2 or Mistral in service mode in Azure, as is already the case today for the Open AI Service model. Many of the announcements made 10 days ago at the Open AI conference have already been integrated into the Azure platform (GPT models, GPT-4 Turbo with Vision, DALL-E 3, etc.). Azure AI Studio will finally enable developers to easily use all these services to integrate them into everyday applications.

- A Copilot for all collaborators : Microsoft continues to infuse AI into all its solutions under the name "Copilot". We will therefore have at our disposal a set of Copilot solutions associated with Microsoft solutions (GitHub, Windows, Microsoft 365, Security, Sales, ...) and new ones have been created (Copilot Studio, Copilot for Service, Copilot for Azure, ...). An initial study has shown that 70% of users who have used Microsoft 365 Copilot say they are more productive with the solution. So we're only at the beginning of the Copilot adventure.

- Microsoft Fabric as a data platform for AI : we've been talking about it for a few months...Fabric is now officially available! Fabric is the data platform that will consolidate and unify enterprise data, enabling it to be exploited across the many AI uses cases in organizations. Here too, the use of Power BI Copilot will democratize the use of data in companies.

More than 100 announcements were made at the event, and it would be complicated to list them all. In fact, you can find all the announcements at the following link: Microsoft Ignite 2023 Book of News.
